Top 3 Strollers for Jogging Parents

Jogging ParentI am not a jogger; I barely tolerate walking around the block most days. It’s not that I’m opposed to exercising; I’d just rather do it in a gym. One look around my neighborhood, though, tells me I’m definitely in the minority. Everywhere you look, there are parents happily jogging with their babies and toddlers using one of the many jogging strollers on the market today. That got my inquisitive mind to thinking: what are the top 3 strollers for jogging parents and what features would be important? Safety, of course, as it is for all parents; storage bins that hold the ever-growing diaper bags. Stability, durability, price, and design are surely considered as well. So, I came up with my top 3 picks for jogging strollers. I researched many different sites and read many different reviews to come up with my top 3 picks. They are: the BOB Revolution SE Single Stroller, the Joovy Zoom 360 Jogging Stroller and the InStep Safari Swivel Wheel Double Jogger. While I have only personally tried one model (Joovy Zoom), the other two had many similar features and benefits according to my research.

Jogging Stroller #1: BOB Revolution SE Single Stroller

Bob Revolution SE Single StrollerThis one has plenty of features and looks great too. The front wheel swivels and pivots when you want it to and locks when you don’t (like when you’re jogging or going over rough terrain). Front wheel is 12.5” and the rear wheels are 16.5” so you can be assured that it is sturdy and durable. It’s fairly lightweight at only 24 pounds, and folds easily to fit it in almost any trunk. The wheels detach as well to make storage even easier. Dimensions are 52” x 25” x 40” (length, width, height). The folded dimensions are 37.6” x 16.9” x 23” (length, width, height) – with the wheels on. The aluminum alloy frame and adjustable suspension system ensures a comfortable ride for your little one. The seat reclines back about 70 degrees, and there is lots of storage space, underneath the stroller, as well as interior pockets and a seat back pocket that can hold smaller items. The large canopy keeps your child covered and protected from the sun, UV rays and wind. There is a 5-year limited warranty on the frame, and a one year limited warranty on small parts and fabric. It also comes with a car seat adapter that you can use for any number of car seat brands. The price? It’s in the high range at over $400; but it’s made to last and if you plan on jogging a lot, you’ll want something that can stand up to the elements as well as the terrain.

Jogging Stroller #2: Joovy Zoom 360 Jogging Stroller

Joovy Zoom 360 Jogging StrollerThis comes in some great bright colors like blue and red; black is available for the more subdued. The Joovy has pneumonic tires (that means air filled – I confess I had to look it up). The front wheel is 12”, back wheels are 16” giving it a wide and sturdy base. It weighs in at 27 pounds, so it’s mid-size I would say; not too lightweight but not too heavy. It has the ‘one hand fold’ feature that I absolutely love and is self-standing when folded, another great feature. Dimensions are 45″ x 25″ x 50″ (height, width, length) and the folded dimensions are 18″ x 26″ x 36.5″ (height, width, length). This stroller also comes with several accessories including a tire pump, running leash, and a custom rain cover. It also has a 5-point safety harness, reclining seats and large canopy. The seat base is wider on this one so kids can fit more comfortably. This stroller also has plenty of storage with 2 mesh side pockets, a large basket underneath and a parent organizer tray with 2 cup holders. This one’s a bit cheaper at about $250.00.

Jogging Stroller #3: InStep Safari Swivel Wheel Double Jogger

Instep Safari Swivel Wheel Double StrollerThis jogger is great for twins or for those who have children close in age. I don’t have twins, but I did use this stroller when my daughter and my in-laws were out for an afternoon with her cousin (it was their stroller). I was quite impressed with the way it handled and it was fairly easy to maneuver considering there were 2 kids in it. 12” pneumonic tire in front, and 16” tires in the back make it sturdy, as with the other two strollers. It’s heavier at 37 pounds, but with a double stroller that is to be expected. Assembled dimensions are 49” by 32” by 40” (L x W x H). The folded dimensions are 33.5” x 32.25” x 20.5” (L x W x H). Each seat has a child’s tray that pivots for getting the kids in and out easily. Each seat is equipped with a 5-point harness for extra safety. There is a large storage bin underneath, and a parent organizer tray with 2 cup holders.

The child trays can hold snacks and drinks as well. A dual-trigger folding mechanism and carrying strap make getting it in and out of the trunk a cinch. The quick-release wheels mean it can be stored in smaller trunks as well. Large canopies, each working independently, will help keep out wind, rain, and sun. This can be purchased for about $200.00

How the Ratings Were Assigned

I checked websites like Amazon, Overstock, Diapers.com, owner’s manuals as well as independent blog sites to gather my data and come to my top 3 picks. I read through thousands of reviews by consumers and these 3 by far had some of the best ratings. I also went to online retailers such as Target and WalMart to gather as much information about each stroller as possible.

Summary

Each of these strollers will keep your child safe, comfortable and happy; and they will each help you get back in shape or stay in shape while you jog. Whether you love a morning run, or you just want to go to the park after dinner, any one of these strollers will get you and your child there safely.
